Focus on your A-Plot
In storytelling, the A-Plot is where the hero is introduced. The B-Plot, while still important, is often secondary -- setting up a narrative that might intertwine and support your hero on their journey, while not being the primary focus of the story.
Frodo's journey with Samwise to get the ring to Mount Doom is the A-Plot. Pippin and Merry's side adventures are the B-Plot. They support the overall mission of the A-Plot, but you wouldn't have a story without Frodo and the ring. Merry and Pippin's stories wouldn't exist without Frodo's story.
As a business owner, you're focused on your A-Plot. If you're a baker, you should bake. If you're a bookseller, you should booksell. That's your A-Plot.
Everything else? That's the B-Plot. Social media, content creation, graphic design, web design -- those are all important, but secondary, to your core business. They will help you grow and promote your business, but they can't exist without your A-Plot. What's a bakery without baked goods? What's a bookstore without books?
If nobody has told you today: You're on your own hero's journey. Focus on your A-Plot.
The B-Plot?
Well, that's why we're here.
